Midwest Chapter Meeting Minutes

Saturday, May 2, 2009 — Phoenix, AZ

The meeting was called to order at 3 p.m.

PRESENT

Thirty-five members were in attendance: Ann Akin, Janice Berling, Kathy Brown, Toph Bryant, Tammy Bryant, Jeff Carlson, Christine Crews, Dena Ellis, Jacque Fucilla, Jennifer Geiger, Mary Jo Gothard, Diane Hart, Leslie Hartman, Jeanne Jarecki, Judy Kirkwood, John Lemke, Irene Light, Mary Lofgren, Karen McNeely, Elaine Molin, Wendy Muller, Bridget Myer, Gloria Rosenau-Stern, Elizabeth Sahaidachny, Serenity Shanklin, Deborah Shaver, Heidi Stelmach, Catherine Surratt, Christine Sweeney, Terry Tarnow, Sheila Tweedy, Mary Watson, Donna Webb, Marleen Wiktoroski and Rebecca Wildman.

OLD BUSINESS

The previous meeting minutes were read and approved.

Incoming Chapter President Heidi Stelmach gave a summary of the financial report.

Ann Akin and Wendy Muller were recognized as Sam Greenberg Scholarship winners in 2009.

The MSA Antitrust Policy was read by incoming Chapter Secretary John Lemke.

NEW BUSINESS

Heidi Stelmach issued a call for volunteering in publicity, fundraising, Webinar set-up and as welcome ambassadors for the chapter.

Heidi also solicited suggestions for improving the efficiency of the banking for the chapter. Suggestions included moving to online banking with a national bank, moving to a credit union with lower fees and putting the banking responsibility under a chapter officer role.

Solicitations for a fall meeting location for 2010 were also made. Traverse City was suggested by Terry Tarnow. Cities on the “megabus” route were also suggested for cost / ease of member travel. Incoming Vice President Elaine Molin offered to send out a survey e-mail to gauge member interest in potential cities.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Heidi announced the next chapter meeting would be Aug. 2 at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage in Beachwood, OH. Jeanne Jarecki suggested the group tour the K&M Factory on Aug. 3 for those who can stick around after the meeting. Suggestions for topics included a product safety presentation, an e-commerce panel and a panel on how to beat a bad economy.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:18 p.m.
