Mid-Atlantic Chapter Meeting Minutes

Saturday, April 17, 2010 — Austin, TX

The meeting was called to order by Morgan Muth at 4:30 p.m.

PRESENT

Thirty-one members were in attendance: Dennis Amaral, Rosemary Cohen, Jamie Cooper, Linda Foster, Marie Fury, Leslie Hartman, Michael Higdon, Lori Hines, Mary Beth King, Suzanne Klipfel, Leslie Maron, Alice McAuliffe, Constance McCulloch, Anne McLaughlin, Abby Miller, Ann Lee, Cheryl Moore, Morgan Muth, Marie Napoli, Tred Parry, Kelly Pecora, Betsy Poole, Jane M. Riley, Lorelei Rowars, Keith Ryan, Jeff Sasson, Linda Shive, Ruth Ann Steenburgh, Diana Wailes, Mark Wiggins and Sarah Wilcox. Also in attendance was Julee Johnson of Historic Urban Plans Inc.

OLD BUSINESS

No old business was discussed.

NEW BUSINESS

Michael Higdon addressed the group and thanked them for their support regarding the issues surrounding the future of MSA. Ruth Ann Steenburgh spoke to her concerns regarding membership. Alice McAuliffe spoke on the subject of developing a mentoring program.

Leslie Hartman, incoming MSA President, commented that the organization (MSA) is working on membership issues and is open to new ideas and is in the process of strategic planning. Plans are already in place for updating MSA communications and IT concerns in general.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Philadelphia Museum of Art will be the site of the fall 2010 Mid-Atlantic Chapter meeting. A final date is still to be determined.

Morgan Muth announced that he will not be able to fulfill his commitment as chapter president for 2010 due to the fact that his store is closing. Everyone wished Morgan well as he embarks on new adventures. Past presidents were asked to step in to fill the vacancy and Michael Higdon volunteered to act as president during this time.
