NEW BUSINESS
Alice introduced Lauren Chapin Salazar to talk about MSA's Knowledge Standards that would be officially rolled out the next morning at the MSA Membership Meeting. Lauren mentioned MSA’s strategic plan and how group discussion at the fall meeting played a part in forming these Standards. She stressed that the Knowledge Standards are applicable to everyone and should be shared with all staff as well as your museum director.
Alice then introduced the new chapter officers: Patricia Toth, President; Barbara Lenhardt, Vice President; and Morgan T. Muth, Secretary.
As new President, Pat took over the meeting. She thanked Alice for her work as president and presented her a gift.
Pat then introduced Betsy Poole and Janet Grimm from Fallingwater – Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, the location of the upcoming fall chapter meeting to be held Sept. 13 – 15, 2008. Betsy and Janet handed out Fallingwater brochures. Betsy suggested that people carpool from local regions. Kentuck Knob, another Frank Lloyd Wright house, will be helping with the meeting. Betsy asked for content suggestions for the meeting. These included:
- Education about Frank Llyod Wright
- Product development at Frank Llyod Wright sites
- Differences between for and not-for-profit
- Loss prevention
- Streamlining SKUs without losing sales
- Copyright info and reproduction
- Operating green
- Knowledge Standards
Betsy talked about lodging and suggested the historic Summit Inn Resort ($80) or the Lodge at Chalk Hill ($65). She thought they needed to be booked by Aug. 7 to get those rates. She also said that Mapquest, etc., gives bad directions and to stay off Tobey Road when coming to Fallingwater. They will send out directions. Betsy mentioned having a twilight cocktail tour of Fallingwater for those arriving on Saturday. Pat suggested a "save the date" e-mail that could be sent by MSA.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Pat mentioned there were two "get well" cards to sign for Laura Martin who was ill.
