Florida Chapter Meeting Minutes

Saturday, April 17, 2010 — Austin, TX

The meeting was promptly called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Lawrence Singer. Lawrence welcomed the new members and introduced Sandra Sue Dent, Nominating Committee Chair. New officer introductions were made by Sandra Sue: Lawrence Singer, President; Terry Aulisio, Vice President; and Audrie Rañon, Secretary.

Lawrence also recognized the Sam Greenberg Scholarship award winners: Jasmine Leach and Sally Glenn. He also thanked Kellie Woodward, the outgoing president.

Terry gave the membership report. There are a total of seven new members with a total of 85 members in the Florida Chapter. Congratulations to Terry for winning MSA's Austin VIP Hotel Package!

PRESENT

Seventeen members were in attendance: Terry Aulisio, Diane Bilodeau, Sandra Sue Dent, Sally Glenn, Ellen Holte, Jasmine Leach, Vanessa Cedeño-Lugo, Mary Alice Manella, Ava Maxwell, Audrie Rañon, Mary Short, Lawrence Singer, Ann Smikle, Lorrie Stassun, Susan Tudor, Joy Wallace and Kellie Woodward. Also in attendance was Barbara Smith from the Tampa Museum of Art.

OLD BUSINESS

The minutes from the Oct. 3, 2009, chapter meeting were approved and accepted. The MSA Antitrust Policy was passed out along with the agendas. The Treasurer's Report stated that there is a balance of $288.08 in the account.

The request made by the Florida Chapter to expand representation on the MSA board of directors to include one member from each chapter was denied by the MSA board. Every region is represented already. Members are selected by region, not by chapters.

NEW BUSINESS

The floor was open to discussion for suggestions as to where to hold our next regional meeting. It was suggested by Ava Maxwell that the next chapter meeting be held in Orlando in late January in conjunction with the Orlando Gift / Artist Craft ACRE Show. The proposed educational aspect would include a lecture on “Tools For Talking, Crucial Conversation.” There was open discussion, but no motion was made.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

There are 215 decks of the Chapter Playing Cards left; if anyone needs to order they should contact Kelly Elliot. Terry stated that the Polk Museum of Art also has extra museum playing cards available. There is a special price if ordered by Memorial Day weekend.

Members Market is Sunday from 8 – 11 a.m.

Please join the Yoga Session to support the Sam Greenburg Scholarship, also on Sunday, at 5:30 p.m.
